Animated Dragon Created Using Eclipse and Techne

This is an animated dragon that Connor P. created using a modeling program and Eclipse Java programmer. The dragon flies around, lands and can walk around using its own independent AI.

Connor used the following programs, and highly recommends them:

Techne (Modeling Program): http://techne.zeux.me/Techne

Eclipse (Java Programmer): http://www.eclipse.org/downloads/

GIMP (Photo Editing Software): http://www.gimp.org

King Lear Insults!

King Lear is much more action packed to read when students get to shout insults at each other. Here, Kent is shouting at Oswald:
“A knave, a rascal, an eater of broken meats; a base, proud, shallow, beggarly, three-suited, hundred-pound, filthy, worsted-stocking knave! ”

Systems Thinking

Before the break we were fortunate to have a visit from Nalani Linder, a  leader in Systems Thinking Education. She introduced this concept to the kids by playing games that got them thinking how to organize their own systems. She then explained the “iceberg model” of understanding a concept and applied it to the students’ understanding of hunger and food insecurity in Pierce County. We look forward to working with Nalani later in the spring and learning more about to apply systems thinking to enhance our understanding of complex topics.
